The letter is built from left to right.
Tops of parts are made first.

This production pattern lends easily to joining and cursive. Cursive movements offer a much better "fit" with our body structure. It should offer much more fluent laterality for getting thoughts onto paper. We now know why the advantage eludes so many of our students when they reach intermediate grades.
